It’s Been A Week!

And not since I last wrote a post. That’s been over a week!

Καλησπέρα! I am going to keep this post short and provide a quick update. But first, I would like to pose a question: How does one catch a sinus infection in thirty+ degree heat in Athens? I have no clue, but I’ve done it and am now on day four of it. Nothing worse than being in this magnificent city and not being able to leave your apartment. That’s right. I’m stuck inside battling a wicked sinus infection and my brain is giving me a moment of clarity. So I thought what better time to write to you, dear Reader, when I am half coherent.

I was very excited to tell you about my week and get a post out on Sunday. Alas, here we are. I started working on the Byzantine coins last Wednesday from the Agora housed in the Stoa of Attalos. They are MAGNIFICENT! Now, I would love to show you them, but I do not have permission at this moment. However, I hope to be able to post some pictures in the near future. Needless to say, I am loving every moment of my research, well, that is until this sinus thing happened. What did I do with the coins this past week? Basically, recording data into a spreadsheet, (re)identifying coins and sifting through old field notes from the 1930s and recording the data from those notes. I know, I make it sound so exhilarating!

However, since I became “Man Sick” I have been in my apartment and when I am able to, I am learning Greek, re-organizing my Zotero library, making research notes in my Obsidian Vault, learning more Greek, sleeping, making a Comps list (for my Comprehensive exam), going through coin photos from the Stoa, and finally, wallowing in self-misery (yes I am so “Man Sick-ing” today) as I watch the sunset on this gorgeous city from inside my apartment, and then off to bed and learn some more Greek.

I found this channel on YouTube and seems good thus far. Go check out:

With all that said, I am hoping to be back on my feet in the next day or two and work on a proper post for all of you. I think I have 5 people reading this now! HUZZAH!

So for your entertainment pleasure (as I feel another bout of the sneezes coming on), please enjoy the below photo gallery. And, if you are so inclined to do so, leave a comment about what is your favourite picture and why!

Καληνύχτα! (Kalinīhta, Good Night).
